DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A PORTABLE GENERATOR THAT IS UNDER 9″ IN HEIGHT THAT COULD FIT IN STORAGE…?

…space in my camper van?
I paid for a 2001 Leisure Travel Van in Sept (Dodge Ram Van 3500). It did not come with a generator. I’d similar to to take a portable generator with me camping, though am carrying worry anticipating a place to lift it. There is a storage space upon a side accessibile from a doorway that is a small over 8.5" high. Haven’t seen any generators this short. we do not wish to lift it inside a manager since of a gasoline smell. we can’t lift it upon a behind fender or trailer join shelve since anything there would retard behind entrance by a behind doorway that additionally has a gangling tire upon it. Any ideas?

It seems to me that the best folks to ask this question of, would be those who manufacture and sell such devices. I would, were I in your van, do just that, and I would also contact the folks at the Chrysler Corporation, to see if they have any suggestions or solutions for you.

Also, there are "camper clubs" on the Internet that you can join, either for free, or for a moderate fee. In these online clubs are discussion forums where you can connect with other campers, some of whom may own a 2001 Dodge Ram Van 3500, or who may be at least familiar enough with it, that they can provide a solution to your problem.

Are you sure that you want to do this? What are the power requirements that you need for the generator? Could you get by with an inverter that runs off the coach battery? Is there a group of Leisure Travel Van owners who could tell you where their generators are?

Would removing the generator from a trailer hitch rack to open the door be too much of a burden?
