I wish to place a primer send switch in in between a energy from a city as well as my use Panel. is there a switch out there which gives we a dual options of possibly upon or aux? we do not wish a whim involuntary switch. we only paid for a generac xp8000e. Where can i find a primer switch as well as a box we need to mountain upon a side of a house? we have looked at Lowe’s as well as home depot. Thanks
I consider what we am seeking for is a stand in chuck switch. we can’t find a single for underneath 0. Is there a single out there for less?

yes…you need what they call a transfer switch.
we had an electrician install ours, he had to attache it to the meter box and run new cables from the meter to the new switch. then from the switch to the main panel in the basement
it has a weather proof outlet to plug the cable in that goes to the generator.
the whole box is about 18" x 12".
there is a throw switch on the side,
handle up it is on power from the pole,
    in the middle is neutral,
handle down is for power from the generator.
check with any local electrical supply company if you are going to do it yourself.
here’s one they have at Home Depot.

HD used to carry them. Try online with HD. Other than that it may need to ordered at any electrical supply house. They are required by NEC for all generator systems that are connected to house wiring. Also the installation needs to be inspected and the local power company notified of it’s installation. They are fairly easy to install and are not too expensive. Good luck.

If your house has a panel with circuit breakers, there is a good chance it has a master switch in the panel. Use it as the transfer switch. I ran a 220 line from panel to a 220 outlet. I turn off the master switch, and plug my generator into the 220 outlet and backfeed the whole house using a 2 gage extention cord.. I shut off the main power switch on the panel.

HomeDepot in Canada used to have two models available. They carried a 12 circuit Siemens panel and a 20 circuit Federal Pioneer panel. Both are available in 30 or 60 amp capacity.

I have pictures and links on my home generator page which may assist with what you are doing.
